Additional Notes

Electronic Targets & Rules:-

We’re using a new ShotMarker target system at Blair this year, so please be mindful of this and be patient and considerate as we become familiar with this system. We’re also tailoring a document specific to GBFCA competitions run on ET’s. This will be circulated amongst our membership asap and highlight how we plan to proceed, should we encounter any unfortunate targetry issues and help us deal with matters on the firing point in a quick and fair manner.

Parking:-

Cars may be parked behind the 900 yrds, 1000 yards or behind the 1100 yards firing point, but space MUST be left to allow the free passage of Atholl Estate

and/or Emergency vehicles.

Practice:-

Targets will be available on Friday for an informal, unsquadded practice from 12:00hrs to 16:00hrs.

No rifles are to be put on the firing point until the RCO gives permission.

Before any rifles can be removed from the firing point, you must remove the bolt so your firing partner can inspect your rifle before signing your score card.

Please then insert a breech flag into your chamber and keep the bolt out!

Driving to and from the range:-

Continued use of West Atholl RC’s Jubillee Range depends on the goodwill of the Atholl Estates. The club has agreed with the Estate that range users will limit themselves to 15mph on the section between the road junction below Home Farm and the range itself.

Please keep to the speed limit and help us to ensure that this precious facility continues to be available…

We look forward to seeing you at Blair Atholl, The G.B.F.C.A Committee

To get to the range;

When you enter the village, across the road from the Tilt Hotel and just before the bridge, you will see a small road on the right, signposted for Fenderbridge. Take that small road and just follow it for about 800m until you reach the first road on the left, turn left there and go down into a steep, tight corner and under a little footbridge. Follow the road as it goes up hill and turns right, keeping a wall on your left. After about 500m the road will split, keep to the right, going uphill through a field.

The road will descend again to a junction, turn right at the junction and go up the hill past a large farmhouse on the right. Just follow the road, it is quite bumpy. Keep going for about 800m. The road will pass by another large farmhouse on the left, at that point the road gets rougher, so slow down, just follow the track into the trees and keep going for another 500m, when you come out of the trees you will be at the 1,100yds firing point. Drive carefully and avoid speeding, the road to the range is used by walkers, locals and livestock, there is a speed limit of 15mph, in particular drive slowly past the Estate Ranger’s house at the bottom of the steep hill.

The co-ordinates for the 1,000yd firing point are: 287620,768825

The postcode for the Atholl Arms in the village is: PH18 5SG.
