G.B.F.C.A Round 7 – The Highland Challenge
Jubilee Range Blair Atholl – Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th October 2025
Friday 10th October
Un-Squadded, informal practice on Targets 4,3,2 & 1 at 900 Yards from 12:00hrs to 16:00hrs
Please Note – Their will be a Teams match between Scotland & England running alongside this practise on Targets 6 & 5. Please be mindful of this when arriving at the range.
Saturday 11th October (Starts at 09:30hrs)
1x Minute of Blow Offs
Match 1 – 2+20 @ 900 yards
Match 2 – 2+20 @ 900 yards
Match 3 – 2+20 @ 900 yards
Sunday 12th October (Starts at 09:30hrs)
3x None-Convertible sighters
Match 4 – 2+15 @ 900 yards
Match 5 – 2+15 @ 900 yards
Prize giving approx 14:00hrs
Notes:-
- (x6) Electronic ShotMarker targets will be in use, along with F-Class LR faces.
- Shooters will be squadded in pairs in F/O & F/TR classes.
- Prizes will be awarded to 3rd place overall and for each stage + Daily Aggs.
- Score cards will be available on range Saturday from 07:45hrs.
- Timings 40mins for 2+20 and 30mins for 2+15 + the 45 second rule applies.
- Range limits are: MV 3,275 FPS, ME 5,160 Ft/Lbs (7k Joules).
- There will be 1 minute of blow-offs before Saturday’s M1. On Sunday you will have 3x non-convertible sighters on target, before starting your M4.
NB – To preserve our aiming points, there will be an offset of 1 MOA High in place. You’ll therefore need to add +1 MOA onto your usual 900 yard Blair elevation setting

Electronic Targets & Rules:-
We’re still learning about our ShotMarker target system, so please be patient and considerate as we become familiar with this system. We’ve tailored a document specific to GBFCA competitions run on ET’s. This highlights how we plan to proceed, should we encounter any unfortunate targetry issues and is there to help us deal with matters on the firing point in a quick and fair manner. This is covered at the bottom of this document.
Parking:-
Cars may be parked behind the 900 yrds, 1000 yards or behind the 1100 yards firing point, but space MUST be left to allow the free passage of Atholl Estate and/or Emergency vehicles.
Practice:-
Targets will be available on Friday for an informal, un-squadded practice from 12:00hrs to 16:00hrs.
Safety:-
No rifles are to be put on the firing point until the RCO gives permission.
Before any rifles can be removed from the firing point, you must remove the bolt so your firing partner can inspect your rifle before signing your score card.
Please then insert a breech flag into your chamber and keep the bolt out!
Driving to and from the range:-
Continued use of West Atholl RC’s Jubillee Range depends on the goodwill of the Atholl Estates. The club has agreed with the Estate that range users will limit themselves to 15mph on the section between the road junction below Home Farm and the range itself.

G.B.F.C.A Round 7 – The Highland Challenge
ShotMarker ET’s & Protocol
#1 – All relevant I.C.F.R.A F-Class rules apply
#2 – The time allowance will be 45 seconds per shot. The time allowed starts from the command to commence fire by the RCO. On subsequent shots, the time allowed starts from the time the target has been scored and recorded for the previous shot.
#3 – In the event a single target fails, and the Electronic target cannot be repaired from the firing point within an adequate time period, the competitors will be moved to a reserve position and placed onto an additional target at first opportunity to finish their match. Any scoring shots to that point will be carried over and 2x additional none scoring sighters may be taken, before resuming for record on target and completing their match.
#4 – In the event that a competitor fires a shot which does not register on the electronic scoring system, the competitor must immediately inform the Range Officer of the failure. A Range Official will then make a written note of the time and target number in question and then look on the Admin tablet for any hidden shots or sensor issues that may be recorded.
If no cross-fire can be identified on adjacent targets on the range, and the competitor in question has all of his previous shots on the target, the RCO will then make an additional check on all other targets and evaluate whether any other extreme misses or 1’s were recorded by the system and possibly caused by a sudden pickup or drop off in wind.
If no such condition was experienced, the shooter will be directed to fire another shot. If it registers, the shooter will be given the value of that shot to replace the missing shot and be directed to continue to fire. If that shot does not register, we will revert back to #3.
#5 – The shot value measured and displayed by the electronic target system is official and is not subject to a challenge for a higher value.
#6 – Finally, we’ve introduced an offset of 1MOA on our targets, to preserve our centre aiming mark. This means your 900-yard elevation for Jubilee Range will be 1MOA higher than normal. We’ve also implemented a 7 second delay between the time the system identifies your shot and displays it on your tablet.
We hope this will help us deal with any unfortunate targetry issues in an efficient and fair manner and we can all enjoy a great weekend of competition at Blair Atholl.
