GBFCA Meeting via Teams 26/11/20
Present : Les Holgate, Des Parr, Gary Costello, Tony Marsh, Richie Jones.
- NRA Affiliations – These were approved as per previous years but with the addition of a small number (12) under the category of active shooters that are not NRA members. It increases the renewal fees slightly, but is a more accurate reflection of our membership.
- New Committee members – Along with Mik Maksimovic, Paul Crosbie also informed the committee that he wanted to stand down. It was decided to poll the membership for two new committee members. If more than two came forward then it would go to a voting system via the secure members area of the GBFCA web site.
- Comps 2021 – LH advised the committee that the NRA had confirmed our 2021 dates for Bisley. Hopefully Diggle and Blair would also confirm soon. GC commented that at some point we would still need to add the Bisley dates, using our club number, to the NRA online booking system. This would need to be done by an NRA member.It was decided to wait until the appointment of the two new members to discuss the actual running of the shoots. The two vacancies would be filled in plenty of time to hold a full meeting either late December or very early Jan.
- Trophies – With 2020 being abandoned the GBFCA had approx £4000.00 worth of trophies engraved that we did not want to waste. It was decided to see if the current trophies could be adapted in some way to use them in 2021. Potentially making some reference to the “Covid year that never was”.
- Medals 2021 – RJ informed us he would look at the current stock of medals. It was assumed we had enough for the first couple of comps but we would need more soon after that. The committee had already approved the new medals in early March but obviously a lot had changed since then. At the next meeting it would be decided whether to get new quotes or just proceed as already approved.
- Treasurer hand over – GC confirmed that despite numerous trips to HSBC to take control of the GBFCA account we had still not received the final mandate. Hopefully it would be coming very soon. It was pointed out that this delay was purely down to the ridiculous number of hoops we had to jump through when changing over club officers names.
- Match reports – DP mentioned stopping doing the match report. It was agreed that they do become repetitive but people seemed to like reading them. The committee agreed to keep doing them but various committee members would take turns, something along the lines of whoever organises the shoots.
- Bisley electronics – Jon Longhurst, in his role as NRA rep, had been liaising with Bisley on issues such as barrel tuners, electronic targets etc and It was acknowledged that the GBFCA, via the Chairman, would drop him a line to thank him on behalf of all the members.
- Longe Range Challenge – LH confirmed that we had written to Mik to thank him for all his service over the years and that we would re name this shoot the Mik Mak Longe Range Challenge.
